Belmont Homes

Belmont
Almost last, but far from least is my hometown for almost 25 years, Belmont, California.

You’ll hear a lot of stuff about the homey feel of San Carlos homes, the tech-vibe of Redwood Shores living and the options available in San Mateo real estate, but Belmont is often overlooked in the grand scheme of San Francisco Peninsula real estate.

If you take the time to look, Belmonthas a lot to offer. Its excellent schools, mature landscaping and view lots make it similar to San Carlos, but Belmont has the added benefits of shopping and freeway access. In fact, from homes at the top of Ralston, you can easily jump on 280 and be in Palo Alto in twenty minutes or the city in about forty minutes – making it a great option for commuters.

Like the other cities though, it does have a few downsides… I’ve been told that some people dislike the narrow, winding streets and severely sloped lots, as well as, the cooler weather and lack of a central downtown.

If you’re trying to get a feel for Belmont, this weekend start your day off at the Carlmont Shopping Center’s Starbucks and then head over to Twin Pines Park. Between the two locations, you’ll get a chance to see the balance Belmont has to offer.

I’m not sure if narrow, winding streets are such a bad thing. Personally I think towns with streets like this have a certain charm. A lack of a downtown may mean less activities to do, but it also means less traffic! Belmont sounds like a nice quiet and charming place to live.

  2. Thanks, Todd. You bring up a good point about there being less traffic in Belmont – that is definitely true.
