San Mateo County Property Tax Scam Alert!
It seems San Mateo County property owners have been inundated with solicitations from private companies luring customers to spend money to reduce their San Mateo County property taxes. These companies cannot guarantee any reduction in property taxes. The law regulates which properties are eligible for property tax relief, which we wrote about it in our post last April, Are You Eligible for a Property Tax Relief?
As we explained, these reassessments are FREE to any homeowner and can be requested by using the Decline in Assessed Value form on the SMCare.org website.
If your property is approved, you will be eligible for a temporary reduction in assessed value. Properties that were approved are reevaluated on a yearly basis and will be granted an extension until the property’s value is regained.
Don’t fall for any scam that requires you to pay money for a reduction in your property taxes!
