The Belmont Parks and Recreation Department is working on designs for two new parks in Belmont set to start construction in 2010.
First New Belmont Park: Semeria Park
Semeria Park will be located in Belmont’s Cipriani neighborhood at the intersection of Casa Bona and Semeria avenues. The flat dirt lot will likely be turned into a play area for little tykes and a sitting area for parents. The landscape architect who designed the park, designed Pershing Park in Burlingame.
Residents in favor of the park are happy because they say it is an eye sore. Until recently, it had been used as a big parking lot. However, Belmont put up signs instructing residents to park parallel around the edges, as if there were a structure on the lot.
Residents opposed to the park would prefer the City spend the little money it has on City services and other, more pressing needs.
Public Meeting for Those Who Want to Learn More
For those who want to learn more, there will be on an onsite public meeting with Belmont Parks and Rec on July 18th at 10am.

Second New Belmont Park: Davey Glen Park
Davey Glen Park is quite a bit bigger, about an acre in size, with steep terrain amidst eucalyptus trees on Davey Glen Road in Belmont. The privately owned bordering areas were designated open space by the City of Belmont several years ago. The park will incorporate its forest setting to create areas for active play and other areas for just enjoying nature in a quiet environment.
When Will the New Belmont Parks Be Complete?
Design plans are in progress and site meetings will be planned for this summer. Designs should be complete by the end of the year with construction scheduled for 2010.
